Dr. Elizabeth Leal

Research Associate

Dr. Elizabeth Leal is a dedicated and accomplished Cellular Biologist. Her academic journey began at the Autonomous University of Puebla, where she obtained her B.S. in Biology. Following this, she furthered her education in Mexico City, earning a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the Department of Cell Biology at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV-IPN).

Dr. Leal’s doctoral research provided significant insights into the role of extracellular vesicles in cancer, utilizing a range of techniques, including cell line models, biochemistry, and cell and molecular biology methods. Her outstanding work in this field has been recognized through publications in high-impact international journals, and her expertise led to her membership in the American Society for Cell Biology.

Dr. Leal is applying her extensive knowledge and skills at The TAM Center, where she is a key member of the cellular laboratory team. She focuses on cell manufacturing operations for a range of cell therapy products. This includes the development of stem cell-based immunotherapies, where her expertise in cellular biology is instrumental in advancing innovative treatments. Dr. Leal’s contribution in this arena underscores her commitment to advancing medical science and her role as a leading figure in cellular biology research.

Biol. Humberto Gallegos Solis

Research Associate

Biol. Humberto Gallegos Solis is a highly esteemed stem cell biologist, boasting over nine years of specialized experience in this cutting-edge field. His academic journey began at the prestigious National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he laid the foundation for his impressive career in stem cell research.

Humberto’s professional trajectory took a significant leap forward at the Investigation Center and Advanced Studies (CINVESTAV-IPN), where he worked until 2019. At CINVESTAV-IPN, he made substantial contributions to stem cell research and production. His efforts were mainly instrumental in advancing the design and optimization of stem cell laboratory structures, enhancing the quality management system, and improving the production processes of stem cells.

Following his tenure at CINVESTAV-IPN, Biol. Gallegos Solis further expanded his expertise during a three-year stint at Fcells Cryoholdco. As a lab coordinator, he was pivotal in producing various human cell types, including stem cells, for regenerative therapies. His work was crucial in supporting the expansion of Fcells, including opening new branches such as Fcells Peru. Humberto’s achievements in this role are noteworthy, especially in implementing new procedures for cell isolation, cryopreservation, and storage. Additionally, he was instrumental in coaching new staff and doctors, enhancing their understanding of these complex procedures, and significantly reducing production times.

Currently, Biol. Gallegos Solis dedicates his extensive expertise and passion toCellular Performance Institute at TAM Center. At CPI, he is deeply involved in producing vital cells and implementing innovative human cell-based therapies to treat various diseases. Humberto’s unwavering commitment to his work and significant contributions to stem cell biology make him a valuable member of our team.

Biol. Gustavo de los Santos Cocotle

Research Associate

Biol. Gustavo de los Santos Cocotle is a highly skilled and knowledgeable biologist. A proud Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Huixquilucan graduate, his academic foundation set the stage for a flourishing career in biological research.

His journey in scientific inquiry took a significant leap forward at the Institute of Cell Physiology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he honed his skills as a research assistant. Here, Gustavo immersed himself in the intricacies of cellular biology, gaining valuable experience that would shape his future endeavors.

Notably, his tenure at FCells marked a pivotal point in his career. Over two years, Gustavo developed a deep expertise in working with primary cultures, mainly focusing on dermal-origin fibroblasts, mesenchymal stem cells from adipose tissue, and dental pulp. His work, primarily on clinical and cosmetic applications, has significantly contributed to advancements in cell therapy innovation, highlighting his ability to blend scientific rigor with practical applications.

Currently, Biol. de los Santos Cocotle is a key member of the Cellular Performance Institute at The TAM Center. His role as a research assistant in this dynamic environment underscores his commitment to pushing the boundaries of biological research and his continued impact on the field. Gustavo’s dedication and expertise make him a valuable asset to the institute.

Erendira Olvera, Msc

Research Associate

Erendira Olvera, MSc, is a remarkably talented Bioengineer whose academic and professional journey is marked by impressive achievements and a deep commitment to leveraging science to improve health. A graduate of the Autonomous University of Baja California, Erendira laid a solid foundation in bioengineering, setting the stage for her future accomplishments.

Her pursuit of excellence continued as she obtained a Master of Science degree in Life Sciences, specializing in Biomedicine and Bionanotechnology, from the Ensenada Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education (CICESE). During her master’s program, Erendira embarked on a groundbreaking research project focused on using exosomes to prevent metastasis formation. This work highlights her innovative approach to medical challenges and her proficiency in handling complex biological concepts and techniques.

Currently, as a Research Associate at  TAM Center, Erendira is a vital member of the cellular lab team. Here, she applies her extensive knowledge and passion for science to develop high-quality treatments, aiming to improve patient health through advanced biomedical technologies. Erendira’s dedication to her work and ability to seamlessly blend scientific research with practical applications make her an exceptional asset in bioengineering and a beacon of innovation in patient health care.

Samuel Peñuelas

Compounding Laboratory Chemist

Samuel Peñuelas is a Compounding Laboratory Chemist for TAM Center and CPI. He completed his master’s degree in Health Sciences with a specialization in Cellular Biology at the Autonomous University of Baja California, México. Throughout his professional career, Samuel has focused on biological quality control specialization. This focus includes a diploma in Bacteriology from the Autonomous University Benito Juárez and specialized courses in Molecular Virology offered by the Mexican Society of Virology at the National Polytechnic Institute. In addition, he has collaborated on projects involving the characterization of antimicrobial substances and bacterial sensitivity. Samuel has been awarded the Outstanding Performance Testimony in the National Undergraduate Exit Examination and holds a Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

Within the Compounding Laboratory, Samuel is crucial in ensuring that patients receive their therapies in optimal conditions. To achieve this, he constantly oversees the quality of the products and is fully dedicated to monitoring patient well-being. He is supported by advanced technology and a committed team that strives daily to meet established goals.
