This synergy allows CPI patients access to advanced diagnostics like Next-Generation Sequencing, Optical Genome Mapping, Proteomics, and digital pathology. It also enables analysis and access to scientists working under the TAM Center ecosystem.

Dr. Antonio Escobedo, MD

Dr. Antonio Escobedo, MD

Medical Director

Dr. Antonio Escobedo is a Tijuana, Mexico, native who has spent most of his life serving the community. His father was appointed Tijuana chief of police in the 1970’s, and his family was founding members of the legendary Tijuana Country Club, Club Campestre.

He attended medical school at the University of Guadalajara. After graduating from medical school, he interned at the Mexico City General Hospital. This is where his love for internal medicine began. He decided to further his training with a residency in Internal Medicine.

During his training, Dr. Escobedo spent much of his time in the Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit, caring for patients on life support. After completing his training, Dr. Escobedo returned to Tijuana to establish a practice in both public and private hospitals. He was also a founding member of the College of Internal Medicine in Tijuana and served as its fourth president.

Dr. Escobedo was the Medical Director of the largest Baja General Hospital for federal government employees twice during his 40+ year career. He also served as the Director of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Escobedo started as a consultant for CHIPSA Hospital 21 years ago, where he advised on critical cases. 2015, he was brought on as Director of Patient Safety before becoming Medical Director in 2016.

Dr. Escobedo is passionate about supporting patients in obtaining the best possible outcome while receiving care at CPI Stem Cells.

Dr. Mariela Touché, MD Stem cell doctor

Dr. Mariela Touché, MD

Director of Cellular Therapy

Dr. Mariela Touché is a highly experienced and skilled doctor who has dedicated her career to helping people with chronic diseases achieve better health outcomes. She earned her medical degree from Universidad de Monterrey in 2014.

Over the last eight years, Dr. Touché has applied her practice in different fields, including cellular therapies, multidisciplinary treatment of cancer patients, immunotherapy, obesity, and general medical practice.

In her role at CPI, she has helped countless patients find relief from their ailments by utilizing cutting-edge cell therapies. As director of Cellular Therapies, she has overseen more targeted cervical disc injections with stem cells than anyone worldwide.

Dr. Touché has also trained in aesthetic medicine and anti-aging medicine, and she is passionate about nutrition and supplementation for her patients.

Dr. Ana Orenday, MD

Dr. Ana Orenday, MD

Director of Outpatient

Dr. Orenday is an experienced and dedicated doctor who has provided compassionate care to her patients for over seven years. She specializes in treating various kinds of solid tumor cancer and incurable diseases with integrative cellular therapies. Her passion is helping people fight their battles with the disease while also offering support and comfort throughout their journey.

Dr. Orenday completed her medical degree at Autonomous University of Baja California (AUBC). She completed clinical training at General Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico. In addition, she holds a certification in cancer nutrition.

Recently, she graduated with a master’s degree in aesthetic and anti-aging medicine, an emerging field of applied medicine and medical science.

Dr. Orenday takes a holistic approach to patient care, treating every patient individually, not a number. She prescribes nutrition, supplements, and mental health support along with leading-edge cellular treatments based on her patient’s individual needs.

Dr. Orenday became the Director of In-Patient Care at CPI in April of 2022. Her close watch and management of the other doctors in this department provide excellent service to the patients at CPI.

Dr. Kevin P. Clancy, Ph.D.

Director of Genomics

Dr. Kevin P. Clancy stands out in the genomics field, combining a robust academic background with a flair for translating complex biological data into impactful clinical solutions. His journey began with a Ph.D. in Clinical Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge, focusing on transcript analysis in the rat CNS, and an honors degree in Biochemistry from Queens University Belfast, setting the stage for a career at the intersection of science and patient care.

Dr. Clancy’s professional story is marked by significant strides in product development and management, particularly at ThermoFisher and in his development of a translational genomics platform at SGI. His tenure at Invitae and Myriad Genetics is notable for his leadership in software development, contributing to the release of cutting-edge medical devices and enhancing the functionality of clinical laboratory products.

A master of collaboration, Dr. Clancy’s ability to work seamlessly with executive teams and thought leaders has led to the creation of novel genomic tools and influential publications. His tenure has been especially transformative in improving data-sharing protocols and advancing electronic health records systems.

Dr. Clancy’s expertise extends to the intricate world of complex bioinformatics systems, where his innovative approaches have streamlined processes and elevated data analysis. His technical skills cover a broad spectrum, including various programming languages, machine and deep learning techniques, data management strategies, and software development architectures. This versatility underlines his comprehensive grasp of the genomic landscape.

As a dynamic force in genomics, Dr. Clancy continues to ignite change and progress, blending his deep scientific understanding with an enthusiasm for pioneering new paths in medicine and patient care. His career is a testament to the power of bridging research with real-world applications, making a tangible difference in the ever-evolving field of genomics.

Diego Guerena, PhD

Director Of Clinical Translational Services

Dr. Diego Guerena, PhD, is a powerhouse in the fields of diagnostics and genomics, blending his deep-rooted scientific expertise with a keen sense of entrepreneurship. His journey, spanning the vibrant landscapes of Mexico and the United States, has been marked by groundbreaking contributions that have significantly advanced the integration of translational medicine into clinical practice.

After earning his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the prestigious Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain, Diego has been at the helm of various transformative projects. Notably, he spearheaded the development of an accredited biotech lab in Baja, Mexico, producing influential research and commercial outputs that continue to resonate within the scientific community. His strategic move to Mexico City further highlighted his prowess, where he led pivotal diagnostics and biotechnology initiatives for Laboratorios Silanes, a leading name in Mexico’s pharmaceutical sector.

Diego’s tenure at Pathway Genomics Corp, now OME Care, in San Diego, was particularly instrumental, where he undertook the ambitious task of establishing the first sequencing lab in Tijuana. His efforts in setting clinical benchmarks for genetic testing and navigating the complex regulatory landscape underscore his resilience and commitment to innovation. Despite encountering challenges, including a significant building violation that jeopardized the project, Diego’s determination and skillful navigation through adversity were evident as he successfully pivoted towards enhancing consumer-focused clinical genomic studies.

His visionary approach didn’t stop at the borders of the U.S.; Diego expanded his influence across Latin America, forging vital networks and collaborations that leveraged sequencing technologies, clinical certifications, and AI to redefine clinical genomics.

Following the acquisition of Pathway Genomics Diego co-founded LSG Clinicos, establishing state-of-the-art reference laboratories across Mexico that specialize in molecular and clinical chemistry testing.

Diego also channeled his expertise into Purpose Health, LLC, directing groundbreaking work in sequencing the oral microbiome and biomarkers. His 25-year tenure in biotechnology is distinguished by a result-oriented approach, optimizing laboratory functions, adhering to stringent regulatory standards, and leading multidisciplinary teams towards shared goals.of NGS in clinical settings underscores his ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare through biotechnological advancements.

Diego’s vast experience allows him to be the perfect Director of Translational Services for CPI.

Dr. Patricia Juárez

Director of Stem Cell Therapies

Dr. Juarez is a group leader and tenured researcher in the Department of Biomedical Innovation at CICESE. She completed her Ph.D. in Biochemical Sciences at UNAM and her postdoctoral training at the University of Virginia and Indiana University. Her research group focused on the study and treatment of metastatic bone cancer caused by solid tumors and the study of bone remodeling agents for the treatment of degenerative bone diseases. Using in vitro and in vivo models and nanotechnology.

She has been the recipient of various awards, including the Rising star Award from the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) in the USA in 2016, and the Young Investigator Award from the International Bone and Mineral Society, and the Young Investigator Award at the 12th International Conference on Cancer-Induced Bone Disease. Lyon, Fr. in 2012, and the John Haddad Young Investigator Award. Snowmass, CO. By the AIMM/ASBMR.

She sits on the board of directors for the Cancer and Bone Society since 2014.

Dr. Juarez actively participated in various international committees of the ASBMR such as Women in Bone, MEEC educational committee, and currently the finance committee. In 2019 she was named ASBMR ambassador for Mexico. She has been a member of the Education Committee of the International Federation of Musculoskeletal Research Society since 2020. She has also been a member of the scientific committee of the Asociación Mexicana de Metabolismo Oseo y Mineral (AMMOM) since 2021, and in the same year, she was honored by being named a member of the Mexican Academy of Science. In 2022, she was appointed executive president of AMMOM.

From 2019-2022 she served as the director of the post-graduate studies program in Life Sciences at CICESE, and teaches courses at CNYN-UNAM and CICESE. She has directed the thesis of 20 postgraduate students including masters and doctoral degrees.

Patricia is SNI-II, has published 36 peer reviewed articles, and 4 book chapters, her work has received 1122 citations (Scopus) and she has an IMPI invention patent application for her work on Europium-doped Gadolinium oxide nanoparticles functionalized with folic acid and its use for real-time detection of cancer cells in vivo.

Dr. Brenda Lopez Santana, MD

Director of Aftercare

Dr. Brenda López is originally from Tijuana and earned her medical degree from the Autonomous University of Baja California (AUBC). After completing her internship training at Hospital General de Tijuana, México, she has developed a particular interest in the care of cancer patients and integrated medicine.

With over nine years of experience in the field, she has completed a certificate program on Cancer Nutrition and graduated with a master’s degree in Aesthetic and Regenerative medicine.

For the past six years, she has been the Director of the Aftercare Department at TAM Center Hospital. Dr. López is driven by empathy, knowledge, and attention to detail; she takes responsibility for the continuity of care of her patients. She strives to provide the same level of quality care for her patients after they are discharged and follows up with them to ensure they are on the right track to getting healthy again.

Dr. López is committed to helping cancer patients lead healthier and happier lives. She emphasizes the importance of integrated medicine and the benefit it has on overall health. She believes in the power of a multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment and works to ensure her patients have access to the best and most comprehensive care possible.

Carlos Roman, RN

Head Nurse

Carlos Roman is a Registered Nurse with seventeen years of experience. He has been a leader in the Tijuana nursing community working at two of the largest public hospitals in Tijuana: Hospital General de Tijuana and Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS).

While working at Serona Senior Care, Carlos developed a passion for patient psychology. He noticed that a patient’s attitude and mindset often affected their quality of life. He was later promoted to Director of Nursing and oversaw the care of hundreds of senior citizens.

Later, he furthered his education at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma (UNADM) and earned his degree in Health Services Management.

In 2020, Carlos became the Director of Nursing at TAM Center, where he oversees more than 40 nurses and the care of thousands of patients every year.

Carlos is passionate about caring for TAM Center patients and providing the highest quality of care. His experience in psychology, nursing, and health services management, as well as his empathetic style, make him loved by both patients and staff.

Ana Flores, Esq.

Human Resources Manager

Licensed to practice law in Mexico by the Autonomous University of Baja California in 2010, Ana manages the functions of the Human Resources department, integrating our Core Values, Mission, and Vision with current Legal and Compliance aspects relevant to our operation.  

Ana worked as Legal Counsel for one of the largest electronic corporations in Mexico, where she oversaw corporate labor, environmental, health and safety, supply chain, consumer protection, and quality. She was instrumental in pioneering the implementation of Corporate Compliance Culture in domestic and overseas subsidiaries. 

Pablo Santana

Patient Experience Director

Pablo Santana graduated from San Diego State University with over seven years of experience in healthcare. He is passionate about improving the patient experience and has a track record of delivering results that exceed expectations.

Throughout Pablo’s career, he has held various roles in healthcare, including Patient Intake specialist, Patient experience supervisor, and Business operations manager. In each role, he has worked tirelessly to improve the patient experience. He has a deep understanding of the healthcare industry and can identify and implement solutions to improve the patient experience quickly.

Pablo is currently the Patient Experience Director at TAM Center and CPI, leading a team of professionals in patient experience. He works closely with hospital leadership and staff to develop and implement strategies for improving patient satisfaction, reducing complaints, and increasing patient engagement. Pablo is also responsible for monitoring and analyzing patient satisfaction data and using this information to identify areas for improvement.

Pablo is a results-driven leader who is passionate about improving the patient experience. He is skilled in leading teams and effectively communicating with patients and staff.

Pablo is dedicated to delivering the highest quality care to patients and is committed to creating an environment where patients feel heard, respected, and valued. He is a valuable asset to the healthcare community and an advocate for patients.

Dr. Jhonathan Vallejo, IR

Interventional Radiologist

Dr. Jhonathan Vallejo is an interventional radiologist with over 12 years of experience in using minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat diseases. He has a passion for providing the highest quality of care to his patients, utilizing cutting-edge technologies and evidence-based medicine to ensure outcomes that are both safe and effective. Dr. Vallejo has helped countless individuals suffering from cancer tumors, vascular problems, and other medical conditions through his dedication to excellence in patient care.

Dr.Vallejo completed his undergraduate degree at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara (AUG) before attending medical school at the University of Medical Sciences in Havana, Cuba where he graduated at the top of his class. He furthered his education with a sub-specialty in Vascular and Peripheral Interventionism at the National Autonomous University of Mexico

He is an active member of the world-renowned Mexican Society of Radiology and Imaging (SMRI) and stays constantly abreast of emerging technologies and rigorous training seminars.

With a strong focus on oncology, he has performed a high volume of interventional procedures for the health benefit of his patients, some of them being very novel such as percutaneous cryoablation in combination with immunotherapy or direct intratumoral immunotherapy injections.

Dr. Alejandro Castillo

Radiologist

Dr. Alejandro Castillo is a distinguished Musculoskeletal Radiologist renowned for his dedication to patient care and commitment to medical excellence. He brings a wealth of expertise in diagnostic and interventional radiology, particularly on joint-related conditions, including degenerative and traumatic joint injuries.

Dr. Castillo embarked on his medical journey at the prestigious University of Monterrey (UDEM), where he completed his medical degree. He further honed his radiological skills during his residency at Hospital Angeles Mocel in Mexico City, where he was certified by LaSalle University (ULSA).

His pursuit of specialization led him to a focused year in Musculoskeletal Radiology at Hospital Angeles del Pedregal, Mexico City. This advanced training was certified by the esteemed National Autonomous University of Mexico, further solidifying his expertise in the field.

In addition to his impressive academic credentials, Dr. Castillo is a board-certified radiologist by The Mexican Council of Radiology and Imaging. His extensive experience is particularly notable in diagnosing and treating sports injuries, where his proficiency and nuanced understanding of radiology have greatly benefited athletes and active individuals.

Dr. Castillo’s blend of extensive training, certification, and practical experience in radiology positions him at the forefront of his field, where he continues to make significant contributions to patient care and medical practice.

Dr. Hector Pacheco Esparza M.D.

Interventional Anesthesiologist

Dr. Pacheco is a highly experienced anesthesiologist with over ten years of experience in the field. He is board-certified by the Mexican Council of Anesthesiology and the Mexican Council of Algology and is a member of the Mexican Federation of Anesthesiology.

He has extensive knowledge of anesthesia administration, monitoring, and management for all types of surgical cases.

He is currently the coordinator of the Pain Clinic Department at Excel Hospital in Tijuana, BC, in addition to his position at TAM Center Hospital.

Dr. Pacheco completed his doctorate degree at Universidad Xochicalco with a specialty in anesthesiology. He completed his residency at Universidad Autónoma Ciudad Juarez (UACJ). Where he went on to do a fellowship in pain management at the National Institute of Cancerology in Mexico City.

As part of his training, he has been part of several workshops and courses in Mexico, USA, and Argentina.

In 2016, Dr. Pacheco studied minimally invasive Pain Management Procedures at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

In 2017 Dr. Pacheco completed the Theoretical Practical Course of Interventionism for the control of chronic pain at Maimonides University of the Autonomous City in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In 2018 Dr. Pacheco received a Pain and MSK Interventional Ultrasound Certificate in Chicago, IL.

In 2019 Dr. Pacheco completed his training at ASRA largest Pain Medicine organization in the USA, and received his certification in ASRA-ASA Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia Education Portfolio Cadaver Course

Dr. Melina Romero Ayala

Interventional Anesthesiologist

Dr. Melina Romero Ayala is a renowned anesthesiologist with a specialized focus in interventional pain management, originating from Queretaro, Mexico. Her academic journey in medicine commenced at the Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Hidalgo, laying the groundwork for her career in anesthesiology. Following her passion, she completed her residency in anesthesiology at the General Hospital of Ciudad Juarez, affiliated with the Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez.

Driven by a deep interest in pain management, Dr. Romero Ayala furthered her expertise at the National Institute of Cancer in Mexico City, where she undertook an intensive fellowship in pain management. She continued to refine her skills with a subsequent fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at the same esteemed institution.

As a member of the Mexicali College of Anesthesiologists, Dr. Romero Ayala is recognized for her contributions to the field. She is board-certified by both the Mexican Council of Anesthesiology and the Mexican Council of Algology (Pain Medicine), underscoring her proficiency and dedication to pain medicine.

With over ten years of experience in the field, Dr. Romero Ayala is adept at delivering comprehensive pain management care, significantly enhancing her patients’ recovery and overall quality of life. Her commitment to staying at the forefront of her specialty is demonstrated through her active participation in various workshops and courses in Mexico, the USA, and Argentina, continually expanding her knowledge and skills.

Dr. Romero Ayala’s exceptional expertise and unwavering dedication make her a pivotal figure for patients seeking effective pain relief and a better quality of life, embodying a beacon of hope and healing in the field of pain management.

Dr. Karol Hernandez M.D.

Cardiologist

Dr. Karol Hernandez is our in-house cardiologist. She did medical studies at Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, where her love for the heart and heart function started. Since her early years, she has been passionate about heart blood flow, participating in research studies at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. She was also part of research clinical studies in Mkushi, Zambia, due to her interest in nutrition and malnutrition. She then pursued a Cardiology Residency at Hospital Español de Mexico.

Her passion for exercise physiology and its relationship with the heart led her to pursue a sub-specialty in Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation and Sports Cardiology at the University of Toronto. She has a Master’s in Clinical Nutrition and Sports Nutrition from Universidad Iberoamericana. She advocates for wellness and the multidisciplinary approach to recovering from heart conditions, also seen through the lens of holistic medicine.

Nancy Salgado, RN

Nursing Supervisor

Nurse Nancy is a true example of dedication and commitment in her field. With an impressive 33-year career, her academic background and specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing from the Autonomous University of Guerrero have positioned her as a highly qualified professional in her area. 

Her constant pursuit of knowledge and continuous improvement has led her to participate in various training programs and diplomas, from critical care medicine to psychology and pain therapy. Additionally, her generosity is reflected in her volunteering in campaigns for reconstructive surgeries for children with malformations, demonstrating her commitment to community well-being. 

As a Nursing Supervisor, Nancy exercises exemplary leadership. She promotes harmony among her team and ensures safety and quality in patient care. Embracing the motto “When you’re a nurse, you know that every day you will change a life or a life will change yours” reflects her profound sense of responsibility and empathy towards those she cares for.

Lola Dranker

Aftercare Patient Advocate

Lola Dranker has been a certified holistic health coach since 2012. She trained at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and the Center for Advancement in Cancer Education and has a professional background in medical malpractice and brain injury litigation consulting. 

She has led impactful personal development retreats in Costa Rica, guided “Power of The Mind” classes for stage 4 cancer patients, and currently serves as a stem cell aftercare specialist at the Cellular Performance Institute in Tijuana.

Lola is also a co-founder of the Hero Academy, a nonprofit community center and jiu-jitsu school in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. This initiative provides underprivileged children with valuable resources such as self-defense training, essential school supplies, and crucial food care packages.

Dr. Elizabeth Leal

Research Associate

Dr. Elizabeth Leal is a dedicated and accomplished Cellular Biologist. Her academic journey began at the Autonomous University of Puebla, where she obtained her B.S. in Biology. Following this, she furthered her education in Mexico City, earning a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the Department of Cell Biology at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV-IPN).

Dr. Leal’s doctoral research provided significant insights into the role of extracellular vesicles in cancer, utilizing a range of techniques, including cell line models, biochemistry, and cell and molecular biology methods. Her outstanding work in this field has been recognized through publications in high-impact international journals, and her expertise led to her membership in the American Society for Cell Biology.

Dr. Leal is applying her extensive knowledge and skills at The TAM Center, where she is a key member of the cellular laboratory team. She focuses on cell manufacturing operations for a range of cell therapy products. This includes the development of stem cell-based immunotherapies, where her expertise in cellular biology is instrumental in advancing innovative treatments. Dr. Leal’s contribution in this arena underscores her commitment to advancing medical science and her role as a leading figure in cellular biology research.

Biol. Humberto Gallegos Solis

Research Associate

Biol. Humberto Gallegos Solis is a highly esteemed stem cell biologist, boasting over nine years of specialized experience in this cutting-edge field. His academic journey began at the prestigious National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he laid the foundation for his impressive career in stem cell research.

Humberto’s professional trajectory took a significant leap forward at the Investigation Center and Advanced Studies (CINVESTAV-IPN), where he worked until 2019. At CINVESTAV-IPN, he made substantial contributions to stem cell research and production. His efforts were mainly instrumental in advancing the design and optimization of stem cell laboratory structures, enhancing the quality management system, and improving the production processes of stem cells.

Following his tenure at CINVESTAV-IPN, Biol. Gallegos Solis further expanded his expertise during a three-year stint at Fcells Cryoholdco. As a lab coordinator, he was pivotal in producing various human cell types, including stem cells, for regenerative therapies. His work was crucial in supporting the expansion of Fcells, including opening new branches such as Fcells Peru. Humberto’s achievements in this role are noteworthy, especially in implementing new procedures for cell isolation, cryopreservation, and storage. Additionally, he was instrumental in coaching new staff and doctors, enhancing their understanding of these complex procedures, and significantly reducing production times.

Currently, Biol. Gallegos Solis dedicates his extensive expertise and passion to the Cellular Performance Institute at TAM Center. At CPI, he is deeply involved in producing vital cells and implementing innovative human cell-based therapies to treat various diseases. Humberto’s unwavering commitment to his work and significant contributions to stem cell biology make him a valuable member of our team.

Biol. Gustavo de los Santos Cocotle

Research Associate

Biol. Gustavo de los Santos Cocotle is a highly skilled and knowledgeable biologist. A proud Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Huixquilucan graduate, his academic foundation set the stage for a flourishing career in biological research.

His journey in scientific inquiry took a significant leap forward at the Institute of Cell Physiology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he honed his skills as a research assistant. Here, Gustavo immersed himself in the intricacies of cellular biology, gaining valuable experience that would shape his future endeavors.

Notably, his tenure at FCells marked a pivotal point in his career. Over two years, Gustavo developed a deep expertise in working with primary cultures, mainly focusing on dermal-origin fibroblasts, mesenchymal stem cells from adipose tissue, and dental pulp. His work, primarily on clinical and cosmetic applications, has significantly contributed to advancements in cell therapy innovation, highlighting his ability to blend scientific rigor with practical applications.

Currently, Biol. de los Santos Cocotle is a key member of the Cellular Performance Institute at The TAM Center. Erendira Olvera, Msc

Research Associate

Erendira Olvera, MSc, is a remarkably talented Bioengineer whose academic and professional journey is marked by impressive achievements and a deep commitment to leveraging science to improve health. A graduate of the Autonomous University of Baja California, Erendira laid a solid foundation in bioengineering, setting the stage for her future accomplishments.

Her pursuit of excellence continued as she obtained a Master of Science degree in Life Sciences, specializing in Biomedicine and Bionanotechnology, from the Ensenada Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education (CICESE). During her master’s program, Erendira embarked on a groundbreaking research project focused on using exosomes to prevent metastasis formation. This work highlights her innovative approach to medical challenges and proficiency in handling complex biological concepts and techniques.

Currently, Erendira is a research associate at TAM Center and a vital member of the cellular lab team. Here, she applies her extensive knowledge and passion for science to develop high-quality treatments, aiming to improve patient health through advanced biomedical technologies. Erendira’s dedication to her work and ability to seamlessly blend scientific research with practical applications make her an exceptional asset in bioengineering and a beacon of innovation in patient health care.

Samuel Peñuelas

Compounding Laboratory Chemist

Samuel Peñuelas is a Compounding Laboratory Chemist for TAM Center and CPI. He completed his master’s degree in Health Sciences with a specialization in Cellular Biology at the Autonomous University of Baja California, México. Throughout his professional career, Samuel has focused on biological quality control specialization. This focus includes a diploma in Bacteriology from the Autonomous University Benito Juárez and specialized courses in Molecular Virology offered by the Mexican Society of Virology at the National Polytechnic Institute. In addition, he has collaborated on projects involving the characterization of antimicrobial substances and bacterial sensitivity. Samuel has been awarded the Outstanding Performance Testimony in the National Undergraduate Exit Examination and holds a Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

Within the Compounding Laboratory, Samuel is crucial in ensuring that patients receive their therapies in optimal conditions. To achieve this, he constantly oversees the quality of the products and is fully dedicated to monitoring patient well-being. He is supported by advanced technology and a committed team that strives daily to meet established goals. Dr. Francesco Marincola – MD

Dr. Marincola is considered one of the world’s leading tumor Immunologists. He was the Chief of the Infectious Disease and Immunogenetics Section in the Department of Transfusion Medicine at the Clinical Center of the National Institute of Health in Bethesda. He was the founder and serves as Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Translational Medicine and ASHI Quarterly, senior editor for the Journal of the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics, and editor for a variety of academic journals, including Immunotherapy, Journal of Immunotherapy, Journal of Immunology, Tumori, Clinical Cancer Research, Biological Therapy, and Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy. He is also a founding member of the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer.

Dr. Marincola has done extensive research in tumor immunology by developing strategies for studying tumor-host interactions in the context of human genetic polymorphism and cancer heterogeneity. During his tenure as a Senior Staff Scientist with the NCI Surgery Branch, Dr. Marincola investigated the identification of the algorithm responsible for tumor rejection by immune cells particularly in the context of metastatic melanoma. In particular, the focus of his research is the optimization of strategies to study clinical material during the conduct of clinical trials. The NIH Immunogenetics laboratory is recognized nationally and internationally for the cutting edge technologies applied for the study of genetic materials at the genomic, transcriptional, epigenetic and mutational levels.

Dr. Vijay Mahant, MS, Ph.D

Dr. Mahant graduated from LUT in the United Kingdom and received his second post-doctorate from MD Anderson in Houston TX.  Dr. Mahant is a scientist with over 30 years of experience in immune and molecular diagnostics.  He has held executive positions and he is founder/co-founder of diagnostic companies with diverse experiences in Research and Development including Auto Genomics, Medi-Lite and Qualigen. He is the inventor of the “New Generation” ultra-sensitive TSH test for prostate cancer.

Dr. Mahant’s work can be seen worldwide in leading cancer institutions using his cutting-edge genetic and diagnostic equipment. He has been at the forefront of the liquid biopsy and circulating tumor cell movement. His passion is finding ways to match tumors with specific drugs that might be off-label and creating even better early detection diagnostic tests.

Dr. Phillip S. Kim Ph.D.

Dr. Kim was awarded the human genetics fellowship by the National Institute of Health (NIH) at the  Cedar Sinai Medical Center. His research focused on the development of gene-therapy model via hematopoietic-stem cell mediated gene transfer and the development of ‘Geno-dynamics’ system to investigate gene function.

At Prometheus he led oncology and gastroenterology research teams to develop technologies, platforms and services for personalized/ targeted diagnostic applications with prognostic, predictive and monitoring utilities for oncology and autoimmune diseases.

His work included  managing planning & execution of technical projects, clinical trials, science and technology communications, research collaborations & KOL (Key Opinion Leader) relationships, and publications.

He is the inventor of the immune pod which is positioned to address critical unmet need in oncology clinic by activating patient’s autologous immune cells specific for individual’s tumor for effective and safe cellular therapy without complex cellular manipulation. Minimally invasive approach using ‘Immuno-Pod’ maximizes tumor specific immune cell activation by exposing otherwise inaccessible tumor in vivo to contiguous ‘synthetic met’ ex vivo seamlessly integrated for each patient.

Dr. Kim’s valuable insight at TAM Center will help guide decisions for precision medicine and specific immune responses for all patients.

Francisco Silva

Mr. Silva currently serves as Vice President of Research and Development for the publicly traded company BioRestorative Therapies (Nasdaq: BRTX), where he leads the development of clinical-stage adult stem cell therapeutics for disc degeneration. BRTX-100 is currently approved for an FDA Phase 2 clinical trial to treat chronic lumbar disc disease. 

In addition, Mr. Silva discovered and is commercially developing brown fat stem cells under BioRestorative’s ThermoStemTM program. Mr. Silva helped start and grow several companies in the regenerative medicine space, including PrimeGen Biotech, Medistem Inc, and Batu Biologics. 

Mr. Silva has 20 years of experience developing novel cell lines, has several publications, and has issued patents covering the development and therapeutic uses of cell-based technologies.
