Joe Rogan, host of the Joe Rogan Experience, talked about 3 different stem cell locations in a recent podcast with Action Bronson.
Have you been so severely harmed that you couldn’t move your muscles? Soft tissue injuries can be costly, particularly for athletes. That includes damage to the tendon, ligament, cartilage, menisci, and skeletal muscles. Unfortunately, without surgery, the only options for healing are rest and rehabilitation.
Stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine are being explored as effective treatments. In this episode, Joe Rogan talked to Eddie Bravo, Brendan Schaub, and Bryan Callen. They discussed stem cell therapy in Mexico and their ability to enhance athletic recovery. They also talked about how the effectiveness of stem cells changed their lives.
In that podcast, he mentioned CPI Stem Cells in Playas De Tijuana and CHIPSA founder Ed Clay.
Ed Clay is a longtime friend of Joe Rogan and a fellow Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt.
Eddie Bravo, who is close friends with both Joe Rogan and Ed Clay, came to Cellular Performance Institute at CHIPSA Hospital at the end of 2019 for Stem Cell treatment on his knee, back, and shoulder.
“Let’s do this,” Eddie describes his conversation with Ed Clay when he decided to come to CHIPSA Hospital.
They have known each other for years, as Eddie used to write for Submission Fighter Magazine, which Ed Clay owned.
Eddie Bravo is just one of many JRE guests who came to CPI.

Episode Highlights
Stem Cell vs. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
Joe is convinced that stem cells and PRP are good, they all help you heal. “All those things stem cells are good. They all help you. They all help you heal.” He then shares that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) come from a woman’s umbilical cord.
Joe says the umbilical cord of a woman is the source of stem cells. She must be 25 years old or younger, who’s had a cesarean section. From those, scientists can regrow highly effective tissue against injuries.
Platelet-rich plasma therapy involves using blood to heal wounded tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints. Preparing PRP injections involves taking a small quantity of blood from you and processing it through a centrifuge. This process will produce concentrated platelets. Then, they will administer the injection into the affected area. “They know exactly what they’re doing while they’re doing it. And those stem cells, they’re fantastic for soft tissue injuries.”
Both treatments can be used for different purposes. In some cases, PRP may be sufficient to promote healing. However, stem cell therapy appears to have superior efficacy in other cases. Ultimately, choosing which to get will depend on your condition and the extent of tissue damage. Qualified professionals will guide you in deciding on the most appropriate treatment plan.
Why Go to Colombia When You Can Go to Tijuana?
Eddie recommends, “I know CPI down in Tijuana. I’m surprised people are going all the way to Colombia when you got it right here in Tijuana.”
CPI did a wonderful job when they fixed both his shoulders. He continues to explain that patients go to San Diego to reach the clinic. From there, you will be taken to the CPI facility.
Once you arrive, CPI’s medical staff will review your medical history and imaging results. Injection of the stem cells is done precisely under imaging guidance.
Pioneer of Stem Cell Therapy
Bryan wonders, “Is it too early, or do they have any controlled tests that can point to it?”
Joe steers the conversation to Dr. Neil Riordan, who has written many papers and books on stem cells. He regards him as the most knowledgeable public figure to talk about stem cells. Dr. Neil has also been a guest on The Joe Rogan podcast.
In one of his books, Dr. Neil journals his work on MSCs and their ability to calm the immune system. He emphasizes that tissue regeneration is not due to the cell’s capacity to reproduce. Rather, it can stimulate the body to regenerate its cells.
Amazing Stem Cells
“I’ve had amazing results with stem cells,” shares Joe. He had a full-length rotator cuff tear in his shoulder before. CPI fixed it completely.
Bryan clarifies how it works, “You shoot it in the local spot, the cells know how to go there?”
Eddie says there will be an MRI first, then guided by an ultrasound. The professionals will inject the stem cells from four different angles. He also shares how the therapy cured both his shoulders.
Waking Up Pain-Free
Bryan is in disbelief of the treatment curing the tear. But Eddie was adamant that his shoulders are now back to 100%.
Joe adds, “They can do amazing things with stem cells. Stem cells are pretty amazing.”
Stem cells can potentially revolutionize medicine. More research is needed to perfect the technology. Yet some believe we’re close to having stem cells as a standard treatment.
